As a further sign of their commitment to investing in East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, the JCI (Japanse Agency for International Cooperation) has penned a 411 million USD with Madagascar to invest in the port of Toamasina. This will fund expansion of the breakwater, the construction of an additional container dock, dredging of bulk cargo docks and expansion of the container yard. It will also cooperate in the master infrastructure plan for Antananarivo and Toamasina.
